På den gamle Grand Prix bane var det Team Penske der tog sig af de tre første startplaceringer. Det skete i form af Will Power på førstepladsen efterfulgt af Helio Castroneves og Ryan Briscoe. På fjerdepladsen kom første ikke-Team Penske bil. Den blev kørt af Dario Franchitti.
